Essential rules

Objective

Bet on the hand closest to 9.

Variant played: Punto banco · automatic draws · virtual chips

Players
1 to 7 players vs. the dealer
Duration
3–8 min
Deck
6 à 8 × 52 cartes

Choose your bet

Before the deal, bet on Player, Banker, or Tie. These names refer to the two hands being compared: you do not choose their cards.

Count modulo ten

An Ace is worth 1, face cards and 10 are worth 0. Keep only the last digit of the total. A 7 and an 8 make 5.

Natural

An initial total of 8 or 9 is a natural. In that case, both hands stay on two cards and their totals are compared.

Player third draw

Without a natural, the Player hand draws on a total of 0 to 5 and stands on 6 or 7. Example: 2 + 3 = 5; the third card, 4, brings the total to 9.

Banker's third-card draw

Without a natural, if Player did not draw, Banker draws up to 5. If Player did draw, the decision depends on that third card. Example: Banker at 6 draws when Player’s third card is 6 or 7.

Compare the two hands

After the automatic draws, the closest total to 9 wins. Suits and poker combinations have no effect.
