Bid and pass
A bid includes a level from 1 to 7 and a suit or no trump. At the same level, the order is clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades, no trump. Three passes after a bid end the auction.
Double and redouble
The opponents of the last contract may double. The contract side may then redouble. A new bid cancels the previous double.
Play the dummy hand
After the opening lead, the declarer's partner's cards are visible: this is the dummy. The declarer chooses cards when it is the dummy's turn.
Follow the requested suit
You must play a card of the requested suit if you have one. The value of your other card does not let you avoid that obligation.
Trump with a trump card
If you do not have the requested suit, you may play a trump. Here, spades are trumps and your hand contains no hearts.
Discard
In No Trump, no suit is trump. If you do not have a card of the led suit, discard another card; it cannot beat a card of the led suit.
Understand the contract level
The level shows the tricks to win beyond the first six. A 3 No Trump contract therefore requires nine tricks out of thirteen.
Win a trick
In No Trump, the highest card of the led suit wins. The winner leads the next trick. Non-led suits do not win the trick.
