01 · UNDERSTAND THE PRINCIPLE

Essential rules

Objective

Italian rummy with pots and jokers.

Variant played: Simplified CardVerse variant · no pozzetto stock

Players
2 to 4
Duration
45–90 min
Deck
108 cards

Draw or take the discard pile

You may draw a card or take the entire discard pile if its top card can start a new meld or complete a laid-down meld.

Make a run

A sequence is made up of at least three consecutive cards of the same suit. Cards from two different suits do not form a sequence.

Make a same-rank set

A group contains at least three cards of the same rank, with different suits. Here, three 8s: spades, hearts, and diamonds.

Replace a card with a joker

A joker can fill a missing card in a sequence. Here it stands in for the 8♥. This variant uses jokers as substitutes.

Add to a meld

After drawing, you may extend an already laid meld if it remains a valid sequence or group.

End by discarding

After drawing and making all allowed melds, choose a card to discard to end your turn. Check the conditions for going out before discarding your last card.

Go out in the proposed variant

This simplified variant ends the hand when a player empties their hand after a discard, or when the stock runs out. It does not require a pozzetto or a seven-card burraco to go out.
