Objective

Durak variant where the defender may return the attack.

Variant played: 36 cards · support and transfer

Players
2 to 6
Duration
10–30 min
Deck
36 cards

Open the attack

The main attacker leads with a card from their hand. Other attacks must then match a rank already visible on the table.

Cover in the same suit

A stronger card of the same suit covers an attack. On 7♠, 9♠ works; 6♠ does not.

Cover with a trump card

A trump covers a card of another suit. Here hearts are trump: 6♥ even covers A♠. If the attack is already trump, a higher trump is required.

Recognize an illegal defense

A card of another suit that is not trump does not cover the attack. With hearts as trump, A♣ does not cover 7♠.

Add a same-rank attack

Added cards must have a rank already present among the attacks or defenses. After 7♠ covered by 9♠, a 9♦ can be added. The limit is six attacks and the defender's capacity.

Transfer the attack

The defender may add a card of a rank already present to pass the attacks to the next player. The new defender's capacity and the six-attack limit must allow it.

Take the cards

The defender may choose to pick up. They collect the attacks and defenses from the table and do not become the attacker in the next round.

End a successful defense

When all attacks are covered and the attackers end their turn, the cards leave the game for good. The defender has successfully defended.

Refill your hand and finish

As long as the stock contains cards, replenish up to six: the attacker first, the defender last. A hand with no cards only leaves the game after the stock is exhausted; the last player with cards loses.
